From Newborn to One Year: Sofia’s Milestone Photography Session in Glin, Co. Limerick

There’s something really special about welcoming a little one back into my studio, especially when the last time I photographed them, they were just a few days old!

I first met Sofia when she came to my photography studio in Glin, Co. Limerick, for her newborn portraits. And now, a whole year later, she was back to celebrate her very first birthday!

From Tiny Newborn to One-Year-Old

One of my favourite things about being a newborn and family photographer is getting to watch the little ones I photograph grow. Those early newborn days seem to pass in a blur. One minute you're holding a tiny, sleepy baby in your arms, and before you know it, they're turning one! Looking back at Sofia's newborn portraits alongside her first birthday photos is such a lovely reminder of just how much changes in those first twelve months. It's also why I love documenting these milestones. Each stage is different, and each one deserves to be remembered.

A Simple and Timeless First Birthday Session

For Sofia's milestone session, we kept things beautifully simple. She wore a sweet little white outfit from my studio client closet, which was perfect for the soft, timeless style of portraits I love to create.

I always want the focus of my photographs to be on the child, rather than elaborate props or busy backgrounds. Their little expressions, their personalities, and all the details that make them who they are at that moment. A first birthday is such a wonderful age to photograph. Babies are developing their own little personalities, and every session is a little different.

Celebrating the Little Milestones

While the first birthday is a big occasion, you don't have to wait until your baby turns one to capture these moments. My milestone mini sessions are designed for babies and toddlers between six months and two years old. Whether your little one has just learned to sit independently, is celebrating their first birthday, or is finding their feet as a new toddler, these sessions are a lovely way to document their growth. Sessions take place in my cosy home studio in Glin, West Limerick, and are relaxed, simple, and focused on your little one.

I also have a selection of outfits available in my client closet, so you don't necessarily need to worry about finding something special for your session.

Your Baby Won't Stay Little Forever

Looking at Sofia's newborn portraits next to her first birthday photographs is a reminder of just how quickly that first year goes.

And while we can't slow down time, we can make sure we have something beautiful to look back on.
